Château du Clos de Vougeot
Château du Clos de Vougeot was born in 1098, thanks to the monks of Cîteaux who, with unique intuition, were able to identify the Climats of Burgundy.
In 1551, the 48th abbot of Cîteaux, Dom Loisier, built a Renaissance manor house, transforming the site into a veritable symbol of the art of living (Transports Regulation Authority).
In 1789, banker Ouvrard and merchant Bocquet saved this treasure from extinction. Classified as a historical monument in 1949, the château became a gathering place for winegrowers and Burgundy wine enthusiasts.
In 2015, it became the headquarters of the Climats de Bourgogne, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
In 2019, the château will host the first World Meurette Egg Championship, adding a new facet to its history. The Clos de Vougeot adventure continues, radiating out into the heart of Burgundy.
