Château Philippe Le Hardi
The Domaine du Château Philippe le Hardi, a must-see site in Burgundy wine country
Situated high above the village of Santenay, 20 minutes south of Beaune on the Route des Grands Crus, the Domaine du Château Philippe le Hardi bears witness to nearly 2,000 years of history. A true signature of Burgundian architecture, the former fief of Duke Philippe le Hardi stands on 9th-century fortifications. Its famous glazed tiles mark the imprint of this prestigious past, closely linked to wine.
Today, with 98 hectares of vines converted to organic farming in 2024, the vineyard extends over nearly 40 Climats of the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise.
Tours of the winery and cellars introduce you to vine cultivation, winemaking methods and ageing. Wine tastings allow you to explore the different Climats of Burgundy. Wine sales on site.
The cellar is open Monday to Friday (10am-12pm & 1:30pm-5:30pm) from late November to late March, and Monday to Saturday from April to late November (10am-12:30pm & 1:30pm-6pm). Visits by appointment only.
