The Castle

Built by Louis XV and Louis XVI, then refurbished under Napoleon I and Napoleon III, the Château de Compiègne was a major centre of court life and the exercise of power. The originality and beauty of France's largest neo-classical château, and the quality of its interior decor and furnishings, make it a unique ensemble, a historic site that, alongside Versailles and Fontainebleau, is one of France's three most important royal and imperial residences.
Royal and imperial flats :
A tour of the Emperor's and Empress's flats will take you back in time to the 18th century and the Second Empire. Take a tour of the richly decorated and furnished rooms.
