ATYPICAL PLACES IN THE CHER

A few monks from Clairvaux laid the first stones of the abbey in 1150. Witnessing the appearance of the Gothic style in the region, Noirlac experienced its apogee in the 13th century, followed by a long period of decline in vocations while retaining an important economic role. Sold as a national property during the Revolution, then transformed into a porcelain factory in the 19th century, it was acquired in 1909 by the Department of Cher, which restored it entirely.

Today, it offers its visitors the purity of its architecture and the serenity of its blonde stone, revealed by the light filtering through the contemporary stained glass windows by Jean-Pierre Raynaud. It has been awarded the "Centre Culturel de Rencontre" label and offers a season of events from April to November: concerts, shows, thematic discoveries, conferences, etc.
